DIY Bath Bombs

Hi! Happy Mother's Day! Today I decided to show you how to make bath bombs. Let's begin:

You will need:

• 1/4 cup of Epsom or Sea Salt
• 1 cup of baking soda
• Food Coloring
• Lemon Juice
• A container to mix with (I used a bowl)
• Measuring Cup
• Different bowls for different colors (I wanted to use 5 different colors, so I got 6 bowls)
• Spray Bottle
• Water
• Molds to put bath bombs in
• Spoon

 

Okay, so the first thing I did was get my 6 bowls out. I made 5 different colors, but the 6th bowl was for mixing. I used the largest bowl and put in the epsom/sea salt and mixed it together. 

Then, I separated the mix into 5 smaller bowls. After that, I put 3 drops of food coloring into each bowl.

After that, I got out my spray bottle. I put a small amount of water in first, then I filled it halfway full to the top. Then I shook it to make sure it was well combined. Then I sprayed the mix into the bowls. I sprayed then mixed, sprayed then mixed, until everything was combined, and I had the color I wanted.

Then, I packed the powder into my molds. It's really important to pack them down really tightly, or else they won't hold their shape. I didn't pack most of them tightly enough, so you will see that only a few ended up looking good.

After that, I put them in the freezer for 2 hours. For me, this is the hardest part, because I am really impatient. After they were complete. I took them out of their molds, and this is how they turned out:

As you can see, most of them didn't hold their shape. This is why you have to pack the powder TIGHTLY. Well, being a DIYer is all about try and failure, so when in doubt, improvise! I turned the bad ones into bath salts, and put them in containers. I put the good ones on top of the bath salts so they would be somewhat decent. Here is the final result:

I know they look really ugly in the photo, but trust me, they look really good in real life! This DIY was pretty fun, somewhat easy, and kind of time consuming. It was also really messy, but in the end it was worth it! I gave this to my mom for Mother's Day and she loved them! I hope you try this out. Remember, it's the thought that counts!

DIY Chia Pudding

Hi! Today I will show you how to make your own chia pudding. It is like tapioca pudding, but healthier. It is so cool how the chia seeds gel up when in contact with any liquid! Let's get started:

You will need:

• 2 tablespoons chia seeds
• 1/4 cup almond milk (I used dark chocolate almond milk)
• Spoon to mix
• Container to mix in
• Container to put finished pudding in
• Strawberry for garnish

The first thing to do is get the ingredients.

The next thing to do is to mix the two ingredients in the container. Feel free to add more chia seeds or put in less almond milk. Before the chia seeds react to the almond milk, put the chia mix into the other container, put it in the refrigerator wait for it to get gelatinous. It usually takes a 1/2 hour, give or take. When it is gelatinous, it is ready! Here is the end result:

I know that this isn't really a DIY, but it was still fun. It was not that time consuming, and it was really easy. I hope you try this sometime!

DIY Bath Jellies

Hi! Today I will show you how to make your own bath jellies. These are basically colored, jellified, soap. It is fun and easy to use. This is also a way to reuse old candle jars, or any cute ones you have around the house. Let's get started:

You will need:

• 1/4 cup of Gelatin or Agar
• 1 cup Clear Soap: can be body wash or hand soap
• Food Coloring
• 4 cups of Water plus 1 cup of cold water
• Medium-sized bowls
• Spoon
• Container to put product in

The first thing I did was prepare my gelatin. I didn't really want to use gelatin, but I couldn't find Agar powder anywhere. The package said for every 1/4 cup of gelatin, I had to use 1 cup of  cold water. I mixed those two together, and after 2 minutes, it completely solidified.

The next thing I did was put the 4 cups of water and my 1 cup of soap. I put it in a pot to boil, and while I was waiting, I set my bowls out.

Then I put out 6 different bowls for my different colors, and I had a different bowl for each color.

Then I put them in the fridge to settle, which took about 30 minutes. After it was done, I got my containers and spoon and started scooping. I wanted a layered look, so I started off with pink or orange, then yellow, then green, then blue, then purple. I did that to all of my my containers until I ran out of the gelatin mix. After that, I was done! Here is the end result:

This DIY was very simple and easy to make. It is somewhat time consuming, but it is worth it! It works exactly like soap. Thanks for reading, and enjoy!

DIY Dish Soap Silly Putty

Hi! Today I will show you how to make silly putty out of dish soap.
You will need:

• 1 1/2 tablespoons dish soap
• 2 tablespoons cornstarch
• Toothpick

The first thing I did was mix the two ingredients together in a small bowl for about 10 seconds. After that, it should slightly come together. If it is runny, add more cornstarch. If it is dry and cakey, add more soap If you want it colored, I recommend adding gel food coloring, because if you add the liquid kind, the soap will react to the water in it.

After the soap and cornstarch were combined, I ditched the toothpick and went at it with my hands. It worked much better, just my hands got a little messy.

And that's pretty much it! Here it the finished product:

As you can see, my hands were a little messy. I loved making this DIY because it was so easy and fast. It also had all of the ingredients you probably already have at home, which is pretty convenient. It only took me about 2 minutes to make. I also liked that the putty was moldable, yet when I stopped playing with it, the putty turned to a lava-like consistency. I really hope you try it out sometime!

DIY Paper Mache Bowls

Hi! Today I will show you how to make paper mache bowls! Let's get started!

You will need:

• Newspaper or Magazines
• Balloons
• Mod Podge
• Foam Brushes
• Optional: Paint

Okay, so the first thing I did was cut up my magazines into small strips. Then I blew up my balloon. When it was the size I wanted, I painted on a layer of mod podge. I then started to layer on the strips of newspaper, one layer at a time. When the first layer was painted on, I put the wet balloon into a cup that would keep it in place.

About 2 hours later, the first layer was dry. Yours might take a bit longer, depending on how much newspaper or mod podge on the balloon. Then I repeated this process until it was the thickness I wanted. I used about 6 layers. When that was dry, it was time to see how it turned out! Instead of popping it, I bit a hole at the top where it is the most thick, so the balloon could unstick slowly. I like mine as it is, but if you want it a different color, you can paint it. I didn't paint it because I liked the collage-ey look.

Here is the final result:

I really like how this DIY turned out. I thought it would fail, but it didn't! It was less time consuming than I thought, only taking 2 days to dry completely. It was really fun, and pretty self explanatory. I hope you try this DIY out!

DIY Temporary Tatoos

Hi! Since today I don't have school, you get an early post from me! Today I will show you how to make temporary tattoos! Let's get into it:

You will need:

• Dark-colored Gel Pen
• Normal Printer Paper
• Sponge
• Scissors
• Optional: Hairspray

The first thing I did was figure out my design. The tattoo will stay on your skin for a few days, so choose wisely! If you don't know what to do, just look up tattoo designs on google. But of course, I chose a koala. Note: If you are using letters, make sure to print the image in mirror.

After I printed the design, the next thing I did was get my gel pen out and it, using as much ink as possible on one line. Make sure you get a TON of ink on there!

Next, while the ink was still wet, I quickly got my sponge and soaked it in warn water. Then I cut out my koala into a small rectangle for easy application.

Then I put the picture face-down into the place where I wanted the "tattoo". I put the sponge over the picture, and placed it on the area for 15-20 seconds. When I removed the tattoo, to be honest, was not how I expected it to look like. It was blurry, and it looked faded.

Oh well, nothing a sharpie can't fix! To make it look better, I went over the ugly tattoo to make the lines crisper. If you want to make it last longer, you can put some hairspray on it. This of the final result:

This DIY was pretty easy and straightforward. It was kind of fun, and really quick. I do recommend doing this, just be careful with the application process. Have fun!

DIY Lip Balm

Hi! Sorry I'm posting this is a little later than usual, but here it is! Today I will show you how to make lip balm out of only 2 ingredients. Let's start:

You will need:

• 1 tsp. Coconut Oil
• 1 Crayon of any color (this will be the color of your final result)
• Heat-safe Bowl (i.e. pyrex bowl)
• Toothpick to stir ingredients
• Container to put finished product in
• Optional: 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (or any other essential oil)

The first thing I did was remove the paper from my crayon. Then I put my crayon, coconut oil, and vanilla extract into a heat-safe bowl:

the next thing I did was fill a pan of water half way up and put it on the stove. I then put the bowl with the stuff inside the pan, essentially making a double-boiler method. Then I (impatiently) waited for the things to melt.

Lastly, when it was finally done melting. I poured the hot liquid into my container, and voilà! All you have to do is wait for it to dry for about 1-2 hours. I just left mine to dry overnight. This is the finished product:

Trust me, it looks better in person. Since I was doing this at night,  the lighting was pretty bad, but you get the idea. The DIY was pretty fun, super easy, and simple. The lip balm itself has a smooth consistency, and is sheer. If you want it matte, you can use less oil and more crayon. I hope you try this out sometime! DIY Canvas Art

Hi! Today I will show you how to make abstract canvas art!

You will need:

• Bleeding art tissue paper (It has to be the bleeding kind, or else it will not transfer onto the canvas)
• Canvas
• Punch (like a hole punch, but in shapes- I used a hexagonal one)
• Paint or foam brush
• Water

The first thing I did was get all of my tissue paper, and cut it using the hexagonal punch. You might want to feed multiple sheets of the tissue paper at once, because the tissue paper is too thin. I put in  3-4 sheets at once. To add support, I put a piece of normal printer paper along with the tissue.

Once the tissue paper was all cut out, the next thing I did was put my water into a cup. I then got out my foam brush and brushed my canvas with water, making sure to get it all covered, but not drenched.

After that, I arranged my hexagons into a puzzle, since they all fit together. Mine now looked like this:

After that, I waited for it to dry. It took about 45 minutes, so I waited for it to dry. This is the final result:

As you can see, it is really abstract, and has pastel colors. It is lighter than I expected, but I really like the final result. It was really fun, easy, and I really enjoyed making it!

DIY Layered Candle

Hi Again! So lately I have been really obsessed with candles. I had all of this extra wax laying around that was left over from the burnt candles, so I decided to put them to use in this DIY.

You will need:

• Old wax from candles
• Container to put new candle in
• Heat-safe bowl or container
• Wick

Okay, so after I got all of my materials, the next thing I did was melt my first layer of wax. To melt the wax, I just got a dixie cup and put the wax in it. It was really hot, so I recommend using a microwave-safe bowl or cup. I then put the wax in the microwave to melt it, in 30-second bursts. You might need to grab a toothpick and stir it if only part of the wax is melted. It should look like this:

The next thing I did was wait for the wax to dry. It took about 45 minutes, but it depends on how much wax is in the container. After my wax dried, I added another layer of wax. It looked like this:

After that, I waited for it to dry, and added a few more layers. This is the final result:

This DIY was pretty easy to make, and it was fun. It was messy and time consuming, but in the end it was worth it. I hope you try it. Until next week,

DIY Simple Pencil Holder

Hi again! This is my second post! Today I will show you how to make a pencil/pen holder from a Pringles can. It was really easy to make, and only took about 5 minutes. Let's get started!

You will need:

• A Pringles can
• Scrapbook or Construction Paper
• Scissors
• Glue Stick
• Pencil

The first thing I did was get my Pringles can. Then I measured the width of the can onto the paper, and drew an outline with the pencil.

Then I cut it out. It should look like this:

The next thing I did was get my glue stick and glue the paper to the Pringles can. There was extra paper at the bottom, so I cut it off.

The final thing I did was put my pencils and pens in there. This is the final result:

This DIY was so easy to make. It's simple and useful. I hope you try it!
